Strike Force Mounts Thrilling Fourth-Quarter Comeback to Defeat Vegas

Henderson, NV - In a game defined by momentum swings and late-game heroics, the San Diego Strike Force (1-2) erased a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to stun the Vegas Knight Hawks (1-2) 35-27 on Friday night. Quarterback Nate Davis spearheaded the comeback with three touchdown passes, while the defense forced critical turnovers to seal the win.

This marked a revenge victory for the Strike Force, who suffered a heartbreaking comeback loss to Vegas in the season opener back on March 31st.

The Knight Hawks struck first, capitalizing on a San Diego interception. Quarterback Ja Rome Johnson powered through for a 20-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a two-yard TD pass to Tamerion Terry, giving Vegas a 14-0 lead. San Diego responded in the second quarter with a four-yard rushing score by Helix alum Travon Van and a 15-yard touchdown pass from Davis to John Maldonado, tying the game 14-14 at halftime.

Vegas regained control in the third quarter, with Johnson connecting with Quentin Randolph on an 18-yard TD and Antonio Wimbush adding a one-yard rushing score. A missed PAT by Paul Ortiz Jr. left the door open for San Diego, trailing 27-14 entering the final quarter.

The Strike Force erupted in the fourth quarter. Rudy Johnson ignited the rally with a three-yard rushing TD, trimming the deficit to 27-21. Davis then found Dallas Daniels for a 14-yard touchdown pass, giving San Diego its first lead at 28-27. Minutes later, Davis linked up with Rudy Johnson again for a 19-yard TD strike, extending the advantage to 35-27.

Vegas had opportunities to counter, but interceptions by Royce See and Wallace Cowins in the final minutes sealed their fate. The Knight Hawks’ 14 penalties for 80 yards further hampered their efforts, while San Diego’s defense held firm under pressure.

The Strike Force return to the Frontwave Arena on Sunday, April 27th to host the Tucson Sugar Skulls.
