The defending Pioneer Football League champion San Diego Toreros gathered at Manchester Field to begin their preparations for the 2015 college football season. The Toreros open the season on Saturday, September 5th against the San Diego State Aztecs at Qualcomm Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and the game will be followed by the annual KGB Sky Show.
“The normal things you have to do every week against PFL opponents,” Lindsey answered. “The difference is, we're going up against some really super good local competition.”
For the second straight preseason, the quarterback position is the biggest question going into the upcoming campaign. While redshirt senior Trey Wheeler currently has the advantage due to having the most experience in the system, he will have to work very hard to earn the job he barely missed out on last season.
USC transfer Chris Willson, Grossmont High alum Anthony Lawrence, redshirt freshman Devon Palomino, and 2015 recruit Reid Sinnett are also in the mix.
“I'm not going to judge anybody after the first practice,” Lindsey said. “We like all of them, and we're going to give each one of them a chance to show us that he should be the starter.”
