#5 Eastlake Titans
Location: Chula Vista, CA
School Colors: Royal Blue, Kelly Green, & Silver
Division: I
League: Metro-Mesa
Championships: 2 (Section), 10 (League)
Head Coach: Lee Price (2nd Season)
2014 Recap: 7-4 (4-0 Metro-Mesa, 1st)
In its first season after the retirement of longtime head coach John McFadden, the South Bay powerhouse maintained its status as one of the top program in the county. The Titans clinched a berth in the Open Division playoffs for the second straight season, but was ousted in the opening round after a 38-27 loss to Mission Hills.
2015 Outlook
Never to shy away from challenges, Eastlake has stacked their non-conference schedule with opponents that won eight or more games last season, including three that are coming off a section championship appearance. Second-year head coach Lee Price is also expecting a huge jump in league competition.
“Our league is going to be harder than it's ever been,” Price said. “Bonita looks great, they've been working really hard, Otay Ranch is looking great, Olympian has had a lot of success, Chula Vista has a new coach and he probably has them ready to go also.”
Commanding the offense for the third straight season will be senior Morales Izzack. His top target will most likely be all-purpose threat Traylon Reed. The Titans defense should remain solid with the return of two first team all-league selections in junior cornerback Josh Olave and senior defensive end Nate Sweat.
“We're expecting a tough time, but we're going to be ready to go and we're going to be playing hard,” Price added.
