After yet another thrilling come-from-behind win, the University of San Diego Toreros (7-1, 5-1 PFL) are two more away from their sixth Pioneer Football League title and a possible bid in the FCS playoffs, but first they must get past Morehead State and Valparaiso, who are both very capable of playing the spoiler role.
First up are the Morehead State Eagles (3-6, 2-4 PFL), who will be looking to bounce back from a 62-52 loss at Butler. This will be the 10th meeting between the two teams with the Toreros owning a 9-0 advantage in the series. Last season USD rolled to a 56-3 victory at Morehead, Kentucky.
Wins in the PFL have not come easy for the Toreros so far this season. Since suffering a 35-18 loss in the league opener at Jacksonville in week 3, they won their last six games by an average margin of seven points. In four of those wins, the Toreros needed to rally from behind in the fourth quarter.
Since margin of victory is meaningless in the standings, the focus at Alcala Park for the remainder of the schedule will be getting wins however they may come, and hope it's enough to qualify for postseason play.
