Video: USD Toreros prepare for huge game against Dayton

Coming off a hard fought 27-21 win at Butler, the University of San Diego Toreros (5-1, 3-1 PFL) return home to Torero Stadium for a very important Pioneer Football League matchup with the Dayton Flyers (5-1, 3-0 PFL).

The last time these teams met, the Flyers handed the Toreros their only PFL loss of last season with a 45-38 win in two overtimes.

Like the Toreros, the Flyers are currently riding a four-game win streak. Senior quarterback Will Barto and running back Connor Kascor leads a Dayton offense that tops the PFL in scoring and rushing. Kascor has rushed for 958 yards so far this season, and has three games where he's gone over the 200-yard mark.

The Toreros will be depending on sophomore cornerback Jamal Agnew to shutdown Dayton's top receiver. The Point Loma product earned Co-PFL Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording three tackles, five pass deflections, and two interceptions against Butler. He'll be assisted by linebacker Nic Henson who currently leads the team in total tackles. Anchoring the defensive line will be Jonathan Peterson, the team leader in sacks and tackles for loss.

On offense, the Toreros hope a strong showing in the run game by Jonah Hodges and Dallas Kessman can set up a successful passing attack. Seniors Brandon White and Reggie Bell both went over 90 yards receiving last week in quarterback Keith Williams' return to the starting lineup after suffering a hand injury.
