Enforcers' Title Hopes Halted By NYPD

New York's Finest (5-0) 37, San Diego Enforcers (4-1) 14

SAN DIEGO (06/21/2014) The San Diego Enforcers' season came to a disappointing end Saturday after falling to the NYPD Finest in the 2014 NPSFL National Championship Game at Cathedral Catholic High School.

Two touchdown passes by quarterback J.J. Carrell were the only points the Enforcers could get on the board. Unfortunately both scores were followed by long runs to the end zone by NYPD running back Demetrius Sterling, who finished the game with three rushing touchdowns.

Other red zone opportunities for the Enforcers resulted in two blocked field goals, including one that was returned to the end zone by Dave Lawrence.

A season full of twists and turns will reach it's conclusion this Saturday when the San Diego Enforcers host the defending champion New York's Finest in the 2014 NPSFL National Championship Game.

The New York's Finest are comprised of members of the New York Police Department, and already have a league-leading five national titles under their belts. They'll be looking to complete a perfect season with their sixth.

"I think it's going to be an extremely physical game," Enforcers head coach Brain Salmon said. "Both the Enforcers and NYPD are very physical football teams."

Surge preps for playoff contest vs. Las Vegas

Under pitch black skies and bright stadium lights, the San Diego Surge participated in a Wednesday night practice at Santana High School. The team was preparing for it's upcoming playoff game against the Las Vegas Showgirlz, taking place on the same field this Saturday.

"Vegas is coming to knock us out of the playoffs," Surge head coach William Harris yelled out while his players hustled through various conditioning drills.

"It's win or go home!"

USD Toreros 2014 Football Schedule

The University of San Diego Toreros will play seven home games this season while playing on the road only four times.

For the fourth consecutive season, USD will kick off it's home schedule against Western New Mexico. The Toreros are 3-0 against the Mustangs after edging them 38-35 in last season's home opener.

On the following week, USD will open Pioneer Football League play when they travel to Jacksonville for their first road contest of the season. It will be the first meeting between the teams since 2012 when the Toreros came away with a 24-7 victory on the road, snapping the Dolphins' 16-game home win streak.
