LARAMIE, Wyoming (11/24/12) The San Diego State Aztecs (9-3; 7-1 MWC) earned their seventh straight win and a share of the Mountain West Conference championship after defeating the Wyoming Cowboys (4-8; 3-5) 42-28. It’s their 19th conference title in school history and the first since 1998.
Wyoming sophomore quarterback Brett Smith looked as if he would single-handedly spoil the party. He had an amazing first half performance putting up all four of Wyoming's touchdowns. His 42-yard touchdown pass to junior receiver Robert Herron at the closing seconds of the half put Wyoming up 28-21.
The second half was all Aztecs.
San Diego State’s defense sacked Smith three times and kept the Cowboys scoreless. The offense put up another 21 points including the game winning 82-yard touchdown run by sophomore running back Adam Muema.
San Diego State’s 400 total yards on the ground was the second most in school history (430 vs. Pacific in 1991).

What’s Next?
The Maaco Las Vegas Bowl has the first choice between eligible Mountain West Conference teams. If San Diego State isn't selected, a Poinsettia Bowl match up against BYU will most likely be their final destination of the 2012 campaign.
